Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum Re-opens

The newly expanded Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum reopened its doors in 2019 and enjoyed a very successful season. In 2018, the St. Marys, Ontario-based shrine underwent its first expansion since it opened in 1998. The new and improved museum offers a 2,500-square foot addition, as well as extensive renovations to its original space.

The expanded area includes the R. Howard Webster Visitors Lounge, which gives visitors the opportunity to relax, view temporary exhibits, watch historic Canadian baseball footage on a big screen and take in the view of King Field, the site’s newest ball diamond. The lounge is also available for businesses and groups to rent.

The majority of the addition houses the Harry Simmons Memorial Library, which serves as the archiving centre for the Hall’s vast collection of artifacts. The library is also home to the Centre for Canadian Baseball Research that offers writers and researchers access to some of the Hall’s original documents and their unparalleled collection of Canadian baseball books dating back to the mid 1800’s.

The original museum was also revamped and redesigned by BaAM Productions. Under their expertise, the Hall has added exciting and informative displays that highlight the most important aspects of Canadian baseball history, with a key room being the plaque gallery that shines the spotlight on the Hall’s 129 inductees.

With four ball fields on its 32-acre site, the Hall hosted over 1,000 events in 2019, including tournaments, games, practices and clinics that brought teams and players of all ages from across Canada to the site. The Ontario Nationals of the Canadian Premier Baseball League also play their home games on the Hall’s main field.

The Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will host plenty of new and exciting events on its site in 2020, including their annual induction weekend, which will take place from June 18 to 21. For more information, check out their website at www.baseballhalloffame.ca or call 519-284-1838.
